My Bisio-graphy

I have this uncontrollable desire to capture photos since my sister gave me her slightly used Nokia 6300 cell phone after she escaped the merciless war in Lebanon back in 2007. Since then, I became a self-acclaimed photo-enthusiast trying to develop my skills (?) in cell phone photography. I didn't realize that this passion became an obsession or shall I call it a vice (bisio/bisyo)?

Whatever! All I care is the priceless satisfaction whenever I get a good shot.

An old cliche says that pictures speak a thousand words... Thus, I let these photos speak for themselves.

Once Upon a Time I Ate Tinola, Bow!

Once upon a time, I went in Tuguegarao City to visit my cousins. I arrived at Carig at scorching 2:00 pm. As expected, for the sake of hospitality, my auntie immediately asked my cousin Buchoy to prepare a tinola. Buchoy reluctantly dressed their only chicken. I noticed it so I tried to stop him but it's too late. The poor chicken was already headless!

I didn't expect that it's Buchoy's first time to prepare a tinola. Anyway, I enjoyed the exotic(?) food and the experience.

Ipon

I borrowed this blog-post from a best friend and mentor to support my other post about ipon...

This is ipon, tiny fish, but this actually fries of the goby fish, or in some instance, that of the anchovy fish. Some non-Ilokano folks mistake it as hipon or small shrimps (aramang, alamang in Tagalog), due to mispronunciation or the way it sounded to them. It is also called dulong in some Ilocos places (not the big and rare, and as a result expensive, ludong). Ipon for some is considered an Ilokano exotic food or deleicacy because of its mystery, rarity, high price, and of course of its distinct flavor favored by Ilokanos.
Ipon, freshly caught, is best as kilawen (kilawin, raw) with sliced tomatoes and onions, some ginger, and salt.
It’s also good as sinigang with soup or broth, and as tamales, wrapped in banana leaves and steamed or broiled. It’s also one of the best for bugguong.  And yes, as a torta or omellete. And dried as daing.

THE GONZAGA EXPERIENCE: Under the Bridge

The Mangngaggos enjoyed the night at the kubo-canteen of STR (Sirok ti Rangtay) River Resort singing their favorite songs into the videoke machine inspired of course by agua de pataranta accompanied by irresistible pulotans (tendered octopus, grilled talakitok, and sinigang nga udang). In the morning upon waking up, three of us came up with a personal mission: to search and capture the natural beauty of Wangag River and its surroundings.

Quickly, we deploy into the ground one by one. Aiming and taking the best shot all around. Investigating every details trapped in our cellphones' memory. Hoping to be rewarded with a great bounty. But when the call of nature hit the back of our bellies, we retreat into the canteen and regain our strength with a cup of coffee.

This road will lead you into the town proper about a kilometer away from here. This serves as the entrance/exit of the STR (Sirok ti Rangtay) River Resort.

Some of the kubos for rent along the Wangag River. For a very cheap 50Php rent, you can relax and enjoy the fresh air and the peaceful view.

This is one of my favorite shot!

THE GONZAGA EXPERIENCE: River Bliss

Wangag River in Barangay Pateng is one of the cleanest river in the Philippines according to Gonzaga folks. You might not believe it, but wait, follow the Mangngaggos having a walk along the serene river one February morning...

Clean and Green...

The Wangag River is also an abundant source of clean water rushing into the veins of irrigation system.

Washing away the dirt is also a cause of water pollution sometimes.
